Bundles and wraps outgoing mail by hand; affixes labels in accordance with postal regulations; counts and records the number of bundles and copies handled; completes forms and tracks information on insured, certified and registered mail.
Sorts mail according to destination and type; weighs mail to determine correct postage and type; folds letters and circulars; inserts into envelopes either by hand or machine; packs cartons and boxes; collects and handles all outgoing packages utilizing parcel shipment vendors; operates mechanical and electronic mailers.
Computes the amount of postage required for outgoing mail according to weight and classification; investigates and implements procedures to reduce postage costs.

8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday (overtime is required during large mailings)
Columbia, Missouri
High school diploma or GED; must have valid driver's license and good driving record. Proof of valid license will be required. Must be able to lift and carry boxes or other items weighing up to 50 pounds/push and pull up to 150 pounds. Position requires extensive walking (up to 3-5 miles over the course of a day), driving (up to 75 miles), and standing. Familiarity with computer software and typing skills are required. Typing test is required. Attention to detail, work well under pressure, good communication skills, flexible schedule, and reliability. Must meet minimum qualifications set forth by the FBI and MSHP CJIS Security policy.
