DETENTION OFFICER
DETENTION OPERATIONS

Responsibilities:

While working primarily inside the Boone County Jail, the Detention Officer:
Interacts face-to-face with detainees
Ensures the safety of staff, detainees, and the public by directing and controlling detainee movement inside and outside the facility
Monitors and documents detainee activities
Oversees the intake and release processes
Manages visitations
Logs and prepares various detainee records
Transports detainees as needed
Enforces facility regulations
Assists in maintaining facility security

Status: 

Full-time, non-exempt, benefited

Working hours: 

6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. AND 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Must be able to work either shift at the department's discretion.

Columbia, Missouri

Qualifications: 


High school diploma or equivalent
Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
No felony convictions.
Must pass a medical examination, psychological assessment, a pre-employment drug screen, and an FBI fingerprint background check

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: 

$22.78/hour. Potential for shift differential.
