Landscape & Turf Division
Trees, turf, and landscaping are critical components to improving the aesthetics of an outdoor space. Our energetic team maintains public buildings, cemeteries, and green spaces throughout Boone County. This includes a variety of responsibilities such as landscape installation, general landscape maintenance, irrigation, tree removals and pruning, and plant propagation.
Mowing is a big responsibility for us, but we do so much more. Our team maintains the turf at a high level in all county-owned areas by seeding and fertilizing. This includes a variety of responsibilities such as landscape installation, irrigation maintenance, tree removals and pruning, and plant propagation.
The landscape and turf division removes snow and ice from parking lots and sidewalks during inclement winter weather and helps support County events. This division helps install the holiday lights throughout the Civic Plaza.

Landscape & Turf Worker I
If you enjoy being outdoors, then this is a great opportunity. Landscape & turf worker I is a full-time position with minimal experience. Duties include all turf maintenance practices and the operation of heavy- and light-duty equipment—employee's assist with maintaining landscaped areas and trees located throughout Boone County public buildings. Horticulture and arboriculture skills will be utilized for plant installation, tree and shrub pruning, mulching, tree removals, etc. This position can operate equipment such as skid steers, chain saws, stump grinders, and chippers.
Landscape & Turf Supervisor
The Landscape & Turf Supervisor manages the daily field operations with a team-oriented approach. Essential skills for this position include an advanced skillset in the green industry, being a natural leader and having the ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently. Teaching and cross training the proper horticulture and grounds maintenance skills to other staff in the field are some of the rewarding opportunities with this position.

What kind of equipment will I operate?
We train full-time staff to operate all equipment used to complete the job requirements. This includes stump grinders, chainsaws, chippers, mowers, aerial lifts, skid steers, etc.
Does the County provide uniforms?
We provide all shirts, personal protective equipment, safety equipment and cold weather gear. An allowance is offered to purchase work pants and boots.
