Boone County Commission to Hold Additional Open Houses for Master Plan

COLUMBIA, Mo. (August 27, 2024) - The Boone County Commission is seeking additional community input on the Boone County Master Plan as it reaches a critical stage of the development process. An in-person Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at the Boone County Government Center, located at 801 E. Walnut Street, Columbia, Missouri.

The in-person meeting will be an open house-style format with no formal presentation. At the open house, the public will review three draft future land use plan options. In addition, the planning team will present a draft of the Master Plan principles and goals, which will serve as the framework for the plan recommendations. The public is free to drop by anytime between 4:30 and 7:00pm to gather information and to provide input.

A video recording of the virtual open house that was held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, is now available at www.OurBoone.com. By watching the video, the public can catch up on all the valuable information and insights and be prepared for the in-person meeting on September 5th.

Boone County Government is undertaking a master planning process with the intention of developing a vision for our communities and establishing countywide priorities for future growth and land use planning for the next 10 to 20 years. The Master Plan is a guide crafted with input from community members, businesses, and service providers. A draft plan is expected by this fall.
