Boone County Outdoor Warning Siren System to be Tested Wednesday, July 3, 2024

COLUMBIA, Mo. (July 2, 2024) –The Boone County Office of Emergency Management (BCOEM), in partnership with Boone County Joint Communications and our siren contractor, will conduct a test of the outdoor warning siren system on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. This test is in response to a recent programming error that affected the system's performance.

The test will take place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:35 p.m. and will cover multiple siren zones throughout Boone County. During this time, some sirens may activate multiple times. The purpose of this test is to ensure the functionality and reliability of the siren system, which is critical for public safety during emergencies. Residents are advised that this is only a test, and no action is required.

If weather conditions prevent testing on July 3, an updated press release will be issued notifying the public of the cancellation. The alternate test date will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
