Boone County Commission Appoints Bill Florea as New Director of Resource Management
April 23, 2020 – The Boone County Commission is pleased to announce Bill Florea has been chosen as Director of the Resource Management Department, effective Monday, May 4, 2020. Bill will begin his new role following the retirement of long-time Director Stan Shawver.
Bill has been a Boone County employee for 23 years, most recently as a Senior Planner in the Resource Management Department. Prior to his service at Boone County, Bill was the Land Use Division Manager for Whatcom County in Bellingham, WA. He is a certified planner and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Bill possesses a broad spectrum of experience in the land use and land development fields in a career that to date spans 32 years.
The Commission extends its sincere appreciation and best wishes to Stan Shawver, who is retiring from the role of Director of Resource Management on May 1, 2020. Through his leadership roles, Stan has served the citizens of Boone County for 39 years.
