Boone County, with Cradle to Career Alliance, One of Eight Counties to Receive Grant Focusing on Kindergarten Readiness
April 24, 2018—Boone County, in collaboration with the Cradle to Career Alliance (C2CA), is one of only eight counties selected by the National Association of Counties to receive a $25,000 planning grant focusing on kindergarten readiness through prenatal to age three interventions. Boone County/C2CA was chosen by NACo as a community partner due to its commitment to ensuring children have a strong start in life. The partnership program is funded by the Pritzker Children’s Initiative (PCI), a project of the J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation.
The proposal submitted for this grant focused on enhancing the level of coordination among home visitation providers, developing centralized outreach and support to parents as early as possible, and identifying ways to bring in the medical community in some sort of formal arrangement to identify parents/mothers before they leave the hospital with their newborn, if not before.
We are very proud to be chosen to participate in this program which will not only provide a stronger start to the children of our community, but will also develop tools adaptable to other communities so all children may be able to reach their highest potential. A kickoff reception will be held in the Commission Chambers immediately following the 1:30PM Commission meeting on Thursday, May 3, 2018.
