Mental Health Advocate Joan Becker to Give Free Presentation
November 8, 2017 – Joan Becker, nationally-known speaker and advocate for those who suffer from mental illness, will be giving a presentation on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 4:00PM in the Boone County Government Center Commission Chambers. The public is welcome and invited to attend this free presentation, sponsored by the Boone County Commission and Boone County Judicial and Law Enforcement Task Force. Joan's presentation is anticipated to last one hour, and she will take questions after the presentation.
During her presentation, Joan will be sharing her family's personal experience with mental illness as she relates her son's battle with Paranoid Schizophrenia and his journey through the criminal justice system. Through her presentations and her book, Sentenced to Life, Joan hopes to help other families, caregivers and professionals understand how they can make a difference in moving forward and improving our mental health system.
