Boone County Receives Two Awards for FACE Program
July 24, 2017 – Boone County has received a 2017 Achievement Award in the category of Children and Youth from the National Association of Counties for its Family Access Center of Excellence (FACE) program. The FACE program, as the recipient of an Achievement Award, was eligible to be selected as one of the 100 Brilliant Ideas at Work and was ultimately selected for this recognition on June 2, 2017. This designation recognizes Boone County as showcasing one of the best innovations in county government.
FACE of Boone County is a single point of entry for families with youth ages 0-19 who are seeking services for social, emotional and behavioral concerns. FACE gives families and youth access to trained and licensed professionals who can guide them through the evaluation process, a wider range of resources in the community, and professionals who can help them overcome common barriers to accessing services. All residents of Boone County are eligible for FACE services free of charge. FACE also provides workplace development and other assistance for service providers in order to not only improve the availability of resources for families and youth, but to also improve the bottom-line quality of care that is provided. The FACE office in Columbia is located at 105 East Ash Street, Suite 100. FACE recently opened a second office in Centralia in order to reach more people throughout Boone County; the Centralia office is located at 1023 Missouri Hwy 22 in Centralia. For more information on FACE and for hours of operation, please visit https://faceofboonecounty.org.

NACo’s Brilliant Ideas at Work Presidential Initiative Reception was held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, and the NACo Achievement Awards Luncheon was held on Sunday, July 23, 2017. These awards will be presented to the Boone County Community Services Department and FACE program staff at the Commission meeting on Thursday, August 10 at 1:30PM in the Boone County Commission Chambers.
