May 18, 2015
Boone County is pleased to announce Chief Engineer Derin Campbell has been named South Central Vice President of the National Association of County Engineers (NACE). NACE is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional organization dedicated to being the voice America depends on for safe, efficient county roads and bridges. The south central region served by NACE includes Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana.
NACE's installation of new officers occurred during the April 22, 2015 annual banquet. Campbell was sworn in by Mr. Dan Ratermann, NACE past president and founding member of Missouri Association of County Transportation Officials (MACTO).
In addition to his role as South Central Vice President, Campbell has been appointed as Chair of the Structures Committee for NACE, a committee he has served on for the past three years. As chair, he will also serve as the representative for Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance, formerly known as American Iron and Steel Institute.
Campbell began his work with Boone County in 2007 as Manager of Design and Construction in the Public Works Department. From early 2009 until January 2011 when the Resource Management Department was formed, Campbell served as Interim Director of Public Works. With the formation of Resource Management, his title became Chief Engineer of Boone County.
Campbell is a founding member of MACTO, the state affiliate of NACE and served as President in 2008. He currently serves as a board member to MACTO and was the MACTO board member representative to NACE until elected to his new position. Campbell is also an active member of the American Public Works Association.
