Rain, rain, rain collecting in your new rain barrel
May 30, 2013
We've had an abundance of rain this spring, so why let it go down the stormwater drains when you could capture it and use it for your garden?
The City of Columbia Public Works Department, Boone County and the University of Missouri are partnering with Rain Water Solutions (their product is Made in America of 50% recycled materials) to provide our customers with the opportunity to purchase a complete rain barrel kit at a greatly reduced price.
The kit includes the barrel (55 gallon), pre-plumbed quarter turn spigot for garden hose attachment, and overflow tubing. A diverter kit is not required for installation and you can even connect multiple barrels together to increase the amount of rain water storage.
The cost of the kit is $62, normally a $119 value.
Want to order one, or more? Simply want to learn more? Visit our website at GoColumbiaMo.com and type rain barrel in the search bar. You can watch the installation video, learn more, and order directly from the website. Orders will be taken until close of business on June 23. Kits will be shipped and ready for pickup on June 28. We'll notify those that order the pick up location and times. You do not have to be a resident of Columbia/Boone County to order although you to have to be able to pick up your order on June 28.
Put today's rain to work for you tomorrow by collecting rainwater in your very own rain barrel!
