Public Administrator organizes, attends training
March 18, 2011
Cathy D. Richards, the Public Administrator for Boone County, helped organize and attended the Missouri Association of Public Administrators (MAPA) Region 6 Training in Jefferson City on March 11, 2011, at the Truman Hotel. Richards is also and co-vice president of MAPA Region 6.
Invited guests included:
Marta Fontaine, Planner Three, State Legal Service Developer for Elder Abuse; Lynn Carter, Executive Director of the Midwest Special Needs Trust; Capt. Dianne Bernhard, Columbia Police Department, and Sgt. Mike Krohn, Boone County Sheriff's Department, provided crisis intervention training on assisting the mentally ill; Sheriff Randy Esphorst and Capt. Chuck Howard from Hermann presented on safety awareness; Beth Simpson, Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging; and Emily Pea, Administrator of Pathways Transitional Psychiatric Center.
Chief Deputy Sonja Boone and Deputy Nancy Bohannon of the Boone County Public Administrators office also attended the 6-hour credit training.
The next meeting for public administrators will be MAPA annual conference, where members will celebrate MAPA's 30th anniversary. The conference will be held at Tan-Tar-A Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks, April 25-28, 2011, hosted by the public administrators of Region 3. It will be MAPA's 30th Anniversary.
