Sheriff's Department Launches New Web site
The Boone County Sheriff's Department has launched a new Web site to create a more user-friendly experience for citizens. Check out the new Web site at http://boonecountymo.org/sheriff/.
County Commissioners Attend Training
The Boone County Commission attended annual mandatory training with the County Commissioners Association of Missouri (CCAM) February 3 to 5 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.
Participate in the 2010 Stormwater Video Contest
Boone County Stormwater Management is sponsoring a video contest for all Boone County residents and students. The contest asks participants to create a public service announcement (PSA) to educate the community on stormwater and water pollution issues. Two categories of videos are being offered. The first is a short PSA, which should be no longer than 30 seconds. The second, is a short film PSA that should be one to three minutes in length. Some of the submitted videos will air on television, at local movie theaters and on Web sites. They will also be shown in kiosks during educational events. There will be one winner chosen from each category. The first place winners will receive $500 each and the second place winners will receive $250 each.

File Your Personal & Business Property Declarations
The County Assessor's office has recently mailed personal property and business property tax declarations. Personal property is assessed each year. The taxpayer is required to update all information concerning the make, model and year of autos, and purchase price and year of purchase for machinery, office equipment, etc. with the County Assessor at the start of each new year. The deadline to file without penalty is February 28, 2010. ยง137.080 RSMo
Boone County property owners can now file their 2010 personal and business property tax declarations online at https://www.showmeboone.com/assessor/onlinefiling/.

Boone County Government elected officials and department directors are a wealth of knowledge on a variety of subjects such as land use, property taxation and valuation, how to do business with the County and more. Special Commission Meeting
The Boone County Commission will hold a special commission meeting with the Columbia Youth Basketball Association Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Roger B. Wilson Government Center, 801 E. Walnut, Columbia.
Government Center Closings
The Roger B. Wilson Government Center will be closed Friday, Feb. 12 in observation of Lincoln's Birthday and Monday, Feb.15, in observation of President's Day. The building will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 16.
