With Commission Order 605-2012, the Boone County Commission readopted Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8; and revised Chapter 9 of the Code of Health Regulations for Boone County, Missouri. Chapter 9 gives the County Commission the authority to establish reasonable fees (see Commission Order 434-2021) to pay for the costs incurred with inspecting establishments and enforcing the Boone County Food Code.

The Boone County Collector has the responsibility of collecting the fees and issuing a food establishment operating permit. The operating permit is valid July 1 through June 30. The fees are based on gross receipts, less revenue not related to food, and a public health priority factor. The following table represents the permit fees for Boone County, effective May 1, 2022.

Plan Review Fees

Effective May 1, 2022 those required to have a plan review by the Boone County Health Department for the construction or renovation of food establishments will be charged the following fees. For gross receipt purposes, all gross revenues not related to food shall be subtracted from the gross receipts figure used for this application. The Plan Review Fees shall be assessed according to the following fee schedule:

Temporary Food Permits

Effective January 1, 2020, persons conducting a temporary food event of 1-3 days in duration shall pay an inspection fee of Forty Dollars ($40.00) and a temporary food event of 4-14 days in duration shall pay an inspection fee of Seventy Dollars ($70.00). Notwithstanding the foregoing, there will be no fees charged for temporary food permits for events for which there is only one (1) food vendor participating.

Concession Stand Fees

Effective January 1, 2022, Concession stands selling food that operate for 90 days or less in a 365-day period shall pay an inspection fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).

Reinspection Fees

Effective January 1, 2020, in addition to the Basic Fees set out above, food establishments shall pay an administrative service fee of One Hundred Ten Dollars ($110.00) per inspection for second and subsequent reinspections required to confirm corrections of violations noted during the inspection process.

Methods of Payment

The collector's office accepts license and permit payments by cash, personal check, cashier's check, bank draft, money order or credit cards. One check may be written for multiple bills of licenses or permits, personal property, and/or real estate, if the total of the bills are added correctly. The entire amount due for the license or permit must be paid before one can be issued. Please do not send cash through the mail. Permit fees can be paid online or by phone.
