Boone County Director of Purchasing Melinda Bobbitt Earns Certified Public Procurement Officer Credential

July 12, 2013

Melinda Bobbitt, Boone County Director of Purchasing was recently notified by the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) that she received the Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) credential. She was one of only 100 professionals who successfully completed the CPPO examination held May 6-18, 2013.

To become certified as a CPPO, candidates must demonstrate through an application process that they meet specific requisites established by the UPPCC, including formal education, procurement-related coursework/training, public procurement experience and functional management experience. A comprehensive written examination is required to confirm the candidate's mastery of the body of knowledge for public procurement professionals. The CPPO certification recognizes only those professionals who have fulfilled these prescribed standards of competency in public procurement.

Melinda has served as Director of Purchasing for Boone County since February 2001 and has over 23 years of purchasing experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Missouri. She earned the Certified Professional Public Buyer certification in 1998 and is a member of the Missouri Association of Public Purchasing and the National Institute of Government Purchasing.
