Bonne Femme Watershed Event - Open House

March 18, 2011

Did you know there are new Boone County regulations in place to protect our groundwater and cave systems, and that a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) is being developed for the Bonne Femme Watershed?

Join your neighbors for an open house sponsored by Boone County, in coordination with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, on March 31, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the Little Bonne Femme Baptist Church, 5350 E. Bonne Femme Church Rd., Columbia, MO, to learn more about these changes and how they may affect you. To RSVP, or for more information, call 573-886-4330. A light dinner of soup and sandwiches will be provided.

In 2006, residents in the Bonne Femme Watershed developed a watershed management/land-use plan that outlined actions that could be taken to protect water quality in this urbanizing area. The County used those recommendations as a basis for the "“"environmentally sensitive area" protections in the stormwater ordinance.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is currently developing a TMDL that will target the amount of bacteria entering Bonne Femme Creek.
