Things you may have missed...
County Celebrates National County Government Week
The Boone County Commission celebrated National County Government Month by serving breakfast to County employees this week. The breakfasts were served Monday through Friday at the Roger B. Wilson Government Center, Boone County Courthouse, Boone County Public Works and Boone County Sheriff's Department.
Hinkson PSA Contest Winners Announced
The Help the Hinkson Watershed Restoration Project announced the winners of its PSA contest on Thursday. The first place winner in the short PSA category (30 seconds or less) was Justin Gregory, 36, of Columbia, whose video was titled “Think”. Second place went to Serge Abellard, 24, of Columbia, whose video was titled “Keep our Creek Clean.” Abellard also won first place in the one to three minute short film PSA category for his video “Facts about Water Pollution.”
There was a tie for second place in the one to three minute short film category between Julian Segert, 15, of Columbia and Hallie Blanchard, 16, of Hartsburg. Segert’s video was titled, “Hinkson Creek - How You Can Stop Pollution,” and Blanchard’s video was titled “What’s a Watershed?”
The first place winners in each category received $500, while the second place winners in each category received $250. Additionally, the videos will air on television, at local movie theaters and on educational Web sites. They will also be shown in kiosks during educational events.
County Administrator Elected to Regional Post

City/County Meeting
The Boone County Commission will have their monthly meeting with City of Columbia manager Bill Watkins Wednesday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the Roger B. Wilson Government Center, room 243. The agenda will be provided by the Boone County Commission office.
