
Karen M. Miller (Democrat) was elected as Boone County's District I Commissioner in November 1992 and sworn into office January 1, 1993.
Karen moved to Missouri from Indiana in 1969. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at Stephen's College in 2006. She attended Harvard's John F. Kennedy State and Local Senior Executive Program the summer of 2003. She also served as the National Association of Counties (NACo) President for the 2003-2004 term. While president for NACo, she was able to secure two scholarships for local communities: $10,000.00 for a student in Ashland, Missouri, to attend college for four years and a $2,500 scholarship for a student in Hallsville, Missouri, towards college.
Karen owned and operated a restaurant in Columbia called "The Establishment" for eleven years, served on the Missouri Restaurant Association State Board for eight years, and has helped with numerous political campaigns prior to running for office herself.
Active in her church and with numerous civic groups, Karen still finds the time to focus on the basic infrastructure of the County's sewers, road and information highway.
Karen is liaison to Boone County's Informational Technology Department and Boone County's Planning & Building Department. Additionally, she serves as liaison to the following organizations of Boone County:
