The Boone County Commission is an elected three-member governing body with a Presiding Commissioner, a District I (Southern) Commissioner, and a District II (Northern) Commissioner.
The Commission establishes County policy; approves and adopts the annual budget for all County operations; approves actual expenditures for each department; supervises the operations of the Community Services, Emergency Management, Facilities Management, Human Resources and Risk Management, Information Technology and Geographic Information Systems, Joint Communications, Legal, Purchasing, Resource Management, and Road and Bridge Departments; ensures County-wide compliance with numerous statutory requirements; and acts as liaison with County boards, commissions, and other governmental entities.
